LEARN TO SAIL

This summer we are pleased to offer several different Youth Sailing Camps. Whether your child has never been in a boat or is a seasoned sailor we have a program available. Sailors use Naples Community Sailing Center boats and sail from the Naples Landing Park on Naples Bay. Come explore Naples Bay and see how much fun sailing can be! Minimum age is 8 years old.

LEARN TO SAIL: US sailing Certified instructors teach the basic Level 1 "small boat" sailing program. Students will learn the basics of waterfront safety, parts of the boat, rigging a boat, maintenance and care of the equipment, knot tying, the three points of sail, sail trim and capsize recovery.

INTERMEDIATE SAILING: This is a follow-up program for graduates of Learn to Sail. This program will further develop sailing skills through the introduction of new drills and more time on the water.

INTRODUCTION TO RACING: This camp is for the more competitive sailor who has completed the Intermediate Sailing course. Basic racing skills including the Rules of Racing will be introduced. Upon completion of this course, sailors will be given the opportunity to try out for the NCSC Racing Team. Sail with the best ... the NCSC Race Team!

GENERAL INFORMATION: Students must bring their own lunch, water and a life jacket with a plastic whistle attached. Bathing suits with shorts and t-shirts are recommended. Closed toe shoes are also necessary (no sandals). A swim check will be performed at the beginning of each course.

COURSE SCHEDULE: All camps will run Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM beginning JUNE 9, 2008. The is $300 per session as follows:

Week 1: June  9th - June 13th      Learn to Sail

Week 2: June 16th - June 20th     Learn to Sail

Week 3: June 23rd - June 29th     Learn to Sail & Intermediate Sailing

Week 4: June 30th - July 4th         Introduction to Racing

Week 5: July 7th - July 11th          Learn to Sail

Week 6: July 14th - July 18th        Learn to Sail

Week 7: July 21st - July 25th        Intermediate Sailing

Week 8: July 28th - August 1st     Learn to Sail

Week 9: August 4th - August 8th  Intermediate Sailing & Introduction to Racing
